PUTTING LABELS TO THE TEST
How performance testing helped a partner elevate their business
OUR CHALLENGE
Our customer, a major outdoor power equipment company, wanted to diversify their label suppliers so they could take advantage of more competitive pricing and enhanced security.
But simply adding a second label supplier was challenging because they hadn’t established clear specifications for label performance. They knew their current labels were “working” but couldn’t tell another supplier what “working” meant. Without performance specifications, it was impossible to evaluate other suppliers.
OUR SOLUTION
Our product development lab specializes in label testing and, in this case, identified 10 different label reliability and performance tests to help our customer benchmark their current labels. Once we established current performance, we were able to provide our customer with a range of
options that delivered equal or better performance than their existing labels. This gave our customer the confidence to approve a second supplier without risking label failure. In addition, because we have documentation and results for every test, our customer now has clear performance specifications moving forward.
