POSITION SUMMARY

The Strategic Sourcing & Process Improvement Manager oversees and executes all procurement activities across direct and indirect categories, including commodity management, production planning support, forecasting alignment, logistics coordination, inventory control, warehousing, outsourcing, and supplier management. This professional is a decisive and proactive leader who is responsible for driving procurement execution and leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives across the platform. This role is critical to ensuring purchasing alignment with business needs, while driving service, cost, and operational support across all locations.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure delivery, quality, cost, and service expectations are met
  • Lead supplier reviews, scorecards, and corrective action processes to drive continuous improvement
  • Implement and support procurement policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives aligned with business goals
  • Own inventory performance across all locations by partnering with planning, warehouse, and operations teams to manage stocking levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory
  • Lead strategic sourcing and purchasing execution across direct and indirect categories, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier performance oversight
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, planning, customer service) to align procurement and process improvement initiatives with platform-wide business priorities
  • Provide direction, escalation support, and guidance to site-level procurement teams on order execution, supplier engagement, and procurement systems usage
  • Oversee MRO and indirect procurement to ensure timely support for operational and facility needs
  • Lead and coach procurement support staff (e.g., Procurement Leads, Specialists) toward continuous improvement in service, cost, quality, and operational efficiency
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor data in ERP and planning systems; ensure alignment between systems and operational needs
  • Track and report procurement KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turns
  • Lead or support procurement and process improvement projects that drive efficiency, standardization, and value creation across the platform
  • Identify and implement improvements to procurement processes, tools, and workflows that support standardization, accuracy, and scalability
  • Ensure indirect spend categories (e.g., MRO, services, supplies, facilities) are managed strategically and in alignment with site needs
  • Partner with IT and finance to support procurement system use, data integrity, and spend visibility
  • Provide cross-functional support during system transitions, ERP upgrades, or new procurement tool rollouts
  • Champion procurement-driven improvements in quality, cost, service, and responsiveness
  • Execute day-to-day purchasing activities including order creation, confirmations, follow-ups, and delivery tracking across assigned categories
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records in ERP systems, including part numbers, pricing, lead times, supplier details, and order status
  • Support urgent or ad hoc material needs through expedited purchasing, spot buys, or emergency supplier communication
  • Monitor supplier order confirmations and ensure system data reflects current delivery expectations
  • Provide timely updates to internal stakeholders (e.g., production, warehouse, planning) on purchase status and material availability
  • Other duties as required

  • Correct and stop any dangerous activity that may cause damage to the product, process, personnel and / or environment.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, or related field required; MBA or advanced coursework a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, operations, or supply chain roles, with a strong focus on process improvement
  • Proven experience identifying, leading, and implementing cross-functional process improvements that enhance cost, quality, service, or efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to assess procurement workflows, design new processes, and deploy tools to drive standardization and scalability
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, including safety stock strategies, reorder point planning, and excess reduction
  • Experience managing both direct and indirect categories, including MRO, facilities, consumables, and service-based procurement
  • Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems required; experience with Radius highly preferred
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to track KPIs, develop insights, and present improvement opportunities
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to engage operations, finance, planning, and IT teams
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, navigating changing priorities and leading through uncertainty with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable leading change in a dynamic manufacturing environment; experience in labels, plastics, or packaging is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable overseeing and supporting day-to-day purchasing activities, including order placement, follow-up, and ERP record maintenance
  • Able to operate in a fast-paced environment, balancing proactive planning with responsiveness to urgent purchasing needs
  • Occasional travel required (up to 25%)

Skills & Abilities

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, or related field required; MBA a plus but not required
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience and supplier management
Computer Skills:
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required, advanced preferred; Experience working with ERP systems, specifically Radius, and inventory management systems, implementation experience preferred
